Ferrari 275 GTB/C 6 Carb Motor and Original Transaxle Here is the story!
The owner of the car had this motor built from scratch in Italy. Along with it went the original transaxle which was also rebuilt. Before installing it in the car he was contacted by the owner of the original motor and decided to buy it even though it cost more than this newly made one.
This 6 carb motor became redundant and became for sale with the rebuilt transaxle.
There is no number, per se, on the motor.
There used to be a service in Italy that had the correct font and could stamp a number following a demonstration by the buyer that he owns the original car or chassis for which he would like the number.
If the new owner perhaps has motor number “7890” as merely an example, the new number would be “7890/2”.
That would give some identity to the motor and purposefully show it was not the original.
The new owner must own the original car or chassis. If not, the motor is available without the number.
